Journalist charged with sexually exploiting a teenage girl heckled as he leaves court

A journalist was heckled leaving court today after he was charged with engaging in a sexual act with a minor and sexually exploiting a teenage girl. The 50 year old from Dublin is facing trial by judge and jury. Four CourtsThe journalist who is accused of defiling a child sat in the dock with a hand to his face during the ten minute hearing. He can’t be named because of the nature of the charges. It’s alleged between March and June 2007, the 50 year old sexually assaulted a female at Croke Park, in Co Donegal and in a hotel carpark at Dublin Airport. It’s also alleged that in February 2011 in Dublin he engaged in a Sexual Act, with a child under 17 years of age There are also 40 charges of sexual exploitation between 2008 and 2011 – as a sample one of the charges alleges that he invited, induced or coerced a girl to engage or participate in a sexual, indecent or obscene act. The DPP has directed trial by judge and jury and the journalist has been remanded on bail to appear in court on April 29th when the book of evidence is due to be served on him.
