Irish Water says average age of water mains in Kerry is 60-80 years old

Irish Water says the average age of water mains in Kerry is between 60 and 80 years old.

The utility has replaced over 200 km of water mains in the county since its inception, with plans to replace up to a further 1000 km nationally in the short-term.

Irish Water is also undertaking a disinfection programme; 81 sites in the county have already been assessed, with 36 completed disinfection upgrades already complete.

The utility adds that in the coming year, a high level of investment in water mains replacement will continue across the county.
