Irish Waste Management Association accuse council of high landfill charges

Private waste collectors in the county could decrease their charges if the council lowered the cost of landfill according to the Irish Waste Management Association. The association made the comments ahead of tonight’s meeting of Tralee Town Council when they’ll discuss whether or not to continue their bin collection service. The issue is a controversial one for the council with growing numbers of people opting for private collections. This has lead to fears that a total privatization of the waste service could lead to huge costs for householders. However private collectors claim it’s the council who drive up the prices.
