Ireland Up 8 Places In FIFA World Rankings

FAI_CrestIreland’s status as fourth seeds for World Cup qualifying has been all-but confirmed with the release of the latest FIFA world rankings. Martin O’Neill’s side share the spot with the Cape Verde Islands and South Korea. But with 31 European sides above them, Ireland are near certainties to be in pot 4 when the draw for Russia 2018 qualifying is made in Saint Petersburg on July 25th. Wales are the big movers, up to tenth from 22nd and they’re just a place below England. Ireland’s Euro qualifying rivals Scotland are 29th, while Poland are 30th. Northern Ireland rise seven places to 37th. World champions Germany have been dislodged at the summit by beaten Copa America finalists, Argentina.
