Investigation launched into withdrawl of objection to Ballybunion development

An Board Pleanala has launched an investigation into the validity of a withdrawal of an objection to a controversial twenty five million euro development in Ballybunion. The Appeals Board has confirmed to Radio Kerry News that the investigation was launched following the withdrawal of a member of the Castlegreen Preservation Group to the development. An Board Pleanala have described the application as being in limbo.They say they are taking this course of action on foot of correspondence received from the remaining members of the castlegreen preservation group. The Appeals Board have described the current situation as unusual and say they expect to have a decision next week. The preservation group want the board to investigate whether or not they should have accepted the withdrawal from the party.As it stands if appellants to an application withdraw their objections from An Board Pleanala then the previous decision from the local authority will stand. In this case Kerry County Council had granted the application with thirty conditions. The two previous occasions this application came before An Board Pleanala it was turned down. The project is for a four storey 107 bed roomed hotel.
