INTO calls for 20 to 40 extra teachers

The INTO says that an additional 20 to 40 teachers would help resolve the problem of overcrowding in Kerry primary school classes. Class sizes in the county are at 23.6, and although slightly below the national average into representative for the county Seamus Long says the figure can mask the real problem in some areas. He says the optimum class size is between 20 and 25 pupils and an extra 20 to 40 teachers would help achieve this in Kerry.
