Injured fisherman rescued off the Kerry coast

An injured crew member was airlifted from a fishing vessel off the Kerry coast last night.
The 100 ft Spanish-registered vessel was about 70 nautical miles west of Dingle when the crew raised the alarm.
The Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115, departed for the scene at around 7.30pm and a paramedic was winched onto the deck where the injured man was waiting to be assessed.
He’s now recovering at University Hospital Limerick and it’s understood he suffered a serious hand injury.
The rescue effort was co-ordinated by Valentia Coastguard.
