A pilot initiative aimed at supporting members of the deaf community has been rolled out in Tralee Garda Station.
An Garda Síochána has partnered with the Centre for Deaf Studies, Trinity College Dublin and the Sign Language Interpreting Service to develop the project.
The initiative, delivered through a webcam-enabled computer in Tralee Garda Station, allows video-link access to Irish Sign Language interpretation.
This service helps members of the deaf community report crimes or make statements.
The pilot initiative is also in operation in Cabra Garda Station in Dublin.
