The IMO wants Simon Harris to restore pay cuts during his Kerry visit.
The Irish Medical Organisation’s AGM began in the Europe Hotel in Killarney on Thursday and continues today and tomorrow.
Outgoing IMO President, Dr Peadar Gilligan, says a key issue is the 30% pay cut on consultants; he believes it’s the primary reason for difficulties in recruiting consultants.
He claims the pay cut was a political decision at the time, and it’s compounded by a lack of funding in the health service overall.
The Minister for Health, Simon Harris, speaks at the AGM tomorrow and the IMO wants him to address a number of issues.
