ICMSA calls for exemption on water charges

The Kerry branch of ICMSA will be calling on the Minister for Agriculture to grant them an exemption on water charges this afternoon. Conor Creedon says these charges would come to almost 4000 euro per annum for a dairy farm of 70 cattle at a time when farmers are under pressure. He says farmers shouldn’t be put in the same category as commercial businesses as they can charge for water, where as farmers need the large quantities in the interest of animal health.
