soup2There’s been a huge increase in the number of people attending Tralee’s soup kitchen. The facility was set up in October last year, in response to the growing number of Kerry people struggling to feed themselves and their families. Two Tralee residents, Colette Price and Dawn Roberts, were behind the project, along with volunteers from the Tralee Lions Club. It’s located in St John’s parish centre on Ashe Street, and is open for two hours every Saturday from 12 noon to 2pm. Dawn Roberts says initially they had less than a dozen attending, but now they’re catering for up to 60 people each Saturday, and almost all of these are local Kerry people.
