HSE confirms a suspected case of Meningococcal Meningitis in Kerry

The Health Service Executive has confirmed a suspected case of Meningococcal Meningitis in Kerry. Radio Kerry believes that the disease has been detected in a 6 year old girl in the Rathmore area.The HSE Southern area say that the necessary protocols are being carried out, this involves the distribution of a letter and literature to the school informing teachers and pupils of the case. They say antibiotics may also be administered to the immediate family and other who have been on close contact with the case.
