HSA report on risk assessment at Kerry General A&E due next week

The Health and Safety Authority says they will have a report on a risk assessment audit of Kerry General`s Accident and Emergency Department ready this week. The hospital is one of thirty facilities across the country that had to undergo an assessment of the A&E Department under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act.In January the Health and Safety Authority wrote to the Chief Executive of The Health Service Executive Kevin Kelly. In the letter the HSA asked that a comprehensive risk assessment of Accident and Emergency Departments be carried out. It follows recent concern about the level of overcrowding at A&E Departments acrosss the country. The closing date for receipt of this audit was last Friday. The Health and Safety Authority has now appointed a team of inspectors to review the content of the submissions. A statement will be issued this week outlining their assessment of the report and recommendations will be made of any follow up measures that need to be taken at Kerry General.
