House made available to Killorglin Housing Association

A vacant house in Iveragh Park in Killorglin is to be made available to the Residents Association as a base for meetings and community events. Under the terms of an agreement reached with the Residents Association the house will not be made available to anyone on the housing list.Director of of services for housing at Kerry County Council Philip O Sullivan says the situation will be monitored on an ongoing basis. The request from the residents to make the the one bed roomed house available is supported by South Kerry Partnership and the Health Bord. Immediate neighbors to the house also have no objections to the proposal. Director of housing Philip o Sullivan says he has balanced the overall demand for housing against the good of the estate. Iveragh Park is the largest of Kerry County Councils estates and he says he feels it will benefit from increased community activity. He is proposing to make the house available for a trial period of one year providing there are no objections from residents, and there are no youth activities in the house. The proposal will have to be passed at a full meting of Kerry county council and Killorglin area councilor Michael Cahill says he’s confident it will be well supported.
