Hopes scheme deal with commercial vacancies could create jobs in Kerry towns

It’s hoped a scheme to deal with long term vacant commercial properties could help create jobs in Kerry town centres.

Kerry County Council is to pilot the Business Incentive Scheme in Tralee from April, and it may be rolled out to other parts of the county.

Cllr Michael Cahill had been calling on the council to introduce a grants scheme, encouraging property owners to renovate derelict buildings and bring life back to towns and villages in the county.

He says this scheme is very positive news for smaller businesses, and is similar to a one he had asked for based on a rates reduction.
