Hopes that Kerry Shannon LNG project could be revived

There is hope that the Shannon LNG project in North Kerry could be revived.

Plans for the €500 million liquified natural gas terminal on the Tarbert Ballylongford landbank have been shelved in recent years having been beset by delays.

PwC has now been mandated with finding a buyer to takeover and fund the project because of the uncertainty caused by Brexit.

John Fox of the Tarbert Development Association says the Shannon LNG company told them they are more hopeful now about the plans than in recent years and believe it won’t be difficult to find an investor.

Mr Fox says there is now political will in Government to progress the project with Minister Denis Naughton and EU funding may also be a possibility:
