Homeless organisation recommends rent pressure zones for Kerry

An organisation that works with people who are at risk of homelessness is recommending Tralee and Killarney to be designated Rent Pressure Zones.

In Rent Pressure Zones, rents will only rise according to a prescribed formula by a maximum of 4% annually.

Una Burns of Novas Iniatives says the rental crisis is having a knock-on effect on homeless services in Kerry as there is nowhere for those in emergency accommodation to move on to.


She says landlords in Kerry with vacant properties need to be incentivised and recommends the introduction of rent pressure zones in Kerry on an interim basis:
