Killarney needs better town-centre access to support its pedestrianisation plan.
That’s according to Kerry Green Party candidate, Cleo Murphy who says the town needs wider footpaths, pedestrian priority at road junctions, and more segregated cycle paths.
She believes the town doesn’t need to increase the number of car parking spaces, as there are 1,900 public parking spaces and 900 privately operated spaces.
She says the town already suffers severe traffic delays, and increasing parking would only exacerbate the issue.
Ms Murphy feels what’s needed now is a town bus service, along with improved connections from Bus Eireann and Local Link.
