Great Southern staff look for reasurance of job security.

Staff at the Great Southern Hotel in Killarney are calling for a commitment that their jobs are secure. It emerged last week that the hotel could be sold off to facilitate the reorganisation of the state airports. Initially it was intended to transfer ownership of the hotel group to the Dublin airport authority. However it now appears that Great Southern along with a number of subsidiaries of Aer Rianta will be sold to boost the company’s finances. Workers in Killarney are now fearful for their future and a meeting of union representatives is to be held in Dublin next week. Mossie Horgan a member of staff at the Killarney hotel says what they want is the same guarantees that have been given to Aer Rianta workers.
