Government considers distancing itself from Kerry babies tribunal findings

The Government is to consider distancing itself from the Kerry babies tribunal findings.

In 1985, the tribunal concluded that Joanne Hayes killed her baby after giving birth on the family farm in Abbeydorney.

The Tribunal also largely rejected allegations of wrongdoing against investigating gardai.

The Minister for Justice, Charlie Flanagan, hopes to bring a proposal to cabinet in the coming weeks to resile or abandon the tribunal findings.
