Government appoints Denis Brosnan to new position.

Former Kerry Group Managing Director Denis Brosnan has been appointed by the Government to advise on the implementation of the nitrates directive. As an independent advisor Mr Brosnans role will be to consider the programme of implementation which will be issued for discussion in the next few days.He will also review comments made by stakeholders and make a recommendation to the Minister before the action plan is finalised. The directive aims to improve water quality by managing livestock manure and fertilisers. So far it has been implemented in part but there is now a need to establish an action programme of measures which will give full effect to the directive.
