Gas Networks Ireland give date for work to start on main feeder pipeline route

Gas Networks Ireland says work on the route for a natural gas feeder main pipeline from Limerick to Listowel is due to start in the middle of next month.

Earlier this week, Cllr Aoife Thornton revealed details of the 41 kilometre route chosen by the utility to deliver natural gas to Listowel via main feeder pipeline.

Work on the 41 kilometre route is part of a 20 million euro investment to connect Listowel to the natural gas network.

It’ll be laid from Barrigone, near Foynes, via Ballyhahill and Moyvane with gas distribution networks being constructed in each of these locations.

Work on the feeder main will be followed later this year by the delivery of 9 kilometres of local town gas distribution network in Listowel town.

Areas in Listowel where works are planned for this year and next are Ballybunion Road, Bridge Road, Charles Street, Church Street, Clieveragh Road, Colbert Street, Convent Street, Courthouse Road, Feale Drive, John B Keane Road, Listowel Business Park, Main Street, Market Street, O’Connell’s Avenue, The Square, Tea Lane, Upper Church Street and William Street Upper.
