Garda in Kerry are remaining positive about combatting burglary, despite an increase in reported cases during the first quarter of this year.

According to figures released by the Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda Division, Tom Myers, at a recent Kerry Joint Policing Committee meeting, instances of property crime have increased by 15% this year compared to the first quarter in 2016.

There were 279 cases of property crimes recorded during the first three months of this year.

However, the Chief Superintendent says significant progress is being made in combatting property crime, and that he expects a significant reduction in second-quarter figures.
