Gardaí appeal for information in alleged attempted child abduction in Scartaglin

It’s understood that on Saturday afternoon two men in a black Volkswagen Golf approached a young boy, who was playing in Scartaglin GAA grounds.

It’s understood that the two men, who were wearing balaclavas, chased the boy; however, he managed to get away through a hole in the fence and raise the alarm.

He was not injured during the ordeal.

The alleged incident occurred between 3.15-3.35 on Saturday afternoon, shortly after U10 football training had finished.

Gardaí wish to speak to anybody who may noticed anything suspicious in or around Scartaglin GAA ground, noticed a black or dark coloured car at or near the pitch entrance, or saw a black or dark coloured car heading in the Castleisland, Farranfore or Cordal direction around the time.
