Gangs from Dublin and Cork travelling to Kerry to commit burglaries

The number of break ins in the county in the two months of this year so far have risen significantly.Burglaries had been down 55% last year on 2015, but since the start of this year there have been a number of spates in areas including Killarney, Killorglin and Listowel.

That’s according to the Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda division, Tom Myers, who says some burglaries are being carried out by locals and a number have been arrested, however the vast majority are being committed by travelling gangs, many from Dublin and Cork.

He says Gardaí in Kerry are running intelligence operations with gardaí across the country, to tackle these travelling gangs.
