Four people fined and 79 patrols carried out during council’s summer dog fouling campaign

Four Kerry dog owners were issued with on-the-spot fines for not cleaning up after their pets, in the last two months.

The fines were issued as part of Kerry County Council’s campaign to stamp out dog fouling in Tralee town and also on the county’s beaches.

Those caught will have to pay a penalty of €150.

A total of 79 patrols were carried out as part of the council’s campaign, concentrating on popular dog-walking spots.

The council’s litter warden Brendan Murphy, says that while the number of owners apprehended might seem low, the reality is, the majority of Kerry’s dog owners do clean up after their pets:
