Former staff of Edenburn Hospital gather tonight in Tralee

Edenburn Hospital     People from all over Kerry who worked at the former Edenburn Hospital, are gathering at Ballygarry House Hotel in Tralee tonight, for a reunion to mark 25 years since its closure. Edenburn, which was at one time the home of landlord Samuel Hussey, was a sanitorium for TB patients from 1937 to 1968, and then became a convalescent home and hospital, catering mostly for orthopaedic patients and elderly patients. It was run by the Bon Secours nuns, and closed its doors for the last time in October of 1988. Margaret Enright, who worked as a care assistant at Edenburn, is hoping for a big turn-out of former staff tonight. She says the hospital was a great place to work: [audio_player src=””]
