Former Kerry general election candidate says People Before Profit/Solidarity party too focused on urban issues

It’s claimed the People Before Profit/Solidarity party is too focused on urban issues.

Brian Finucane announced his resignation from the party earlier this week after ten years, claiming the party’s direction is not in line with his own.

Mr Finucane was a candidate for the People Before Profit/Solidarity party in the most recent local and general elections.

He says the party is urban-focused, and therefore neglects issues such as the closure of post offices, the impact of recent driving legislation on rural drivers and the much-delayed Shannon LNG project.

People Before Profit/Solidarity have three TDs, all based in Dublin, while only two of their ten councillors are based outside of the capital.

Mr Finucane says North Kerry needs projects like the proposed LNG facility to create employment.
