First female Sinn Fein Councillor is elected Cathaoirleach

The youngest and first female Sinn Fein Councillor has been elected Cathaoirleach of the Kerry. Cllr Toireasa Ferris was elected to the position at today`s AGM of Kerry County Council. It`s the first time that Kerry has a female Mayor and Deputy Mayor with Councillor Anne mcellistrom voted in by members.Speaking at county buildings today Sinn Fein mep Mary Lou McDonald said today`s appointments are important for many reasons. Marie Ferris, Mayor Ni Fheariosa`s mother says her daughter`s appointment is richly deserved.
