Files are prepared for DPP on activities of fishermen

A spokesperson for fishermen in Dingle says he has not received information from Gardai or the Department of Justice that files are being prepared for the DPP in relation to claims of over-fishing along the South West coast. After searches of Dingle and Castletownbere Harbours it is alleged that boats are landing as much as three times their legal quota.The Garda Press Office has confirmed that the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation is preparing files for the Director of Public Prosecutions on the activities of fishermen. The spokesperson for the fishermen in Dingle says he has not received confirmation that a conclusion to the investigation has been reached and he will not comment further at this stage.
