FF politicians on collision course with party headquarters

Leading Fianna Fail politicians in the county are on a collision course with party headquarters in Dublin. The party says officers of the Kerry North Dail Cheantair, former TD Denis Foley, Mayor of Kerry Ned O,Sullivan and Cllr John Brassil should be removed from their positions. Fianna Fail General Secretary Sean Dorgan says these officers are not in compliance with party rules. He states under party rules, Denis Foley cannot serve more than four years as Treasurer of the Comhairle Dail Cheantair, while as sitting councillors, Ned O`Sullivan and John Brassil, are not eligible to hold officer positions. However, last week, Cathaoirleach O`Sullivan said he believed he had the full support of the Dail Cheanntair on his chairmanship of the organisation. It’s understood that the party`s Kerry North TD Tom McEllistrim is not happy with the two councillors holding down officer positions. However, Sean Dorgan denies that party headquarters instigated the intervention on the behest of Deputy McEllistrim. The TD says he knew nothing about the approach made to the Comhairle Dail Cheantair.
