FF asks former Mayor to clarify remarks made at convention

Fianna Fail have written to Councillor Ned O Sullivan asking him to explain his comments at last Friday night`s convention. The former Mayor of Kerry said his failure to get elected constituted a democratic deficit as there was now two Tralee based politicians running, which left Listowel without any representation. He says he now has no option but to review his position. Norma Foley and Thomas McEllistrom were elected to run by delegates at last Friday night`s convention.A Fianna Fail spokesperson says they have written to the former Mayor asking him to clarify his comments. The party believe the comments may have been made in the heat of the moment and on reflection they hope that Ned O Sullivan will support the two candidates nominated by delegates.The other defeated fianna Fail candidate in North Kerry says Listowel does not have a party representative in the next election because Ned O’Sullivan’s tranfers went to Norma Foley. Over two thirds of Cllr O Sullivan’s votes went to the Tralee candidate. Cllr John Brassil says he will support Cllr Foley and Deputy Tom MacEllistrim in the election.
