Data supplied by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation reveals  that in the first three days of the week 34 patients were on trolleys in Kerry General Hospital’s emergency department. Deputy Martin Ferris attempted to raise concerns about Kerry General Hospital in the Dail yesterday. He claims a pensioner was on a trolley from 6.30pm on Monday to 8.30pm on Tuesday. This was the 86 year old man’s third time in hospital in a number of weeks. The Sinn Fein TD also attempted to raise the issue of a Castleisland woman who he says spent almost 30 hours on a trolley until Tuesday afternoon and passed away on Wednesday evening. Deputy Ferris says he fully understands the stress that frontline staff are under and the excellent service they provide.
