Fenit Lifeboat involved in major rescue operation

Fenit Lifeboat was involved in a major rescue operation involving a single engine plane which was en route from the US to Europe. The plane was diverted to Shannon as it was leaking fuel and the whole west coast was put on alert. It landed on a beach in county Clare running on a near empty engine. 12 members of Fenit Lifeboat were tasked out at 8.30 last night and returned shortly before 1 am. Aran Islands lifeboat and the Coast Guard helicopter were also involved in the operation. No one was injured.
