Farmers threaten to withold milk supplies from Kerry Co Op

Farmers are threatening to with-hold milk from Kerry Co-Op as the row over prices continues. Hundreds of milk suppliers from Kerry and throughout the country will gather in County Offaly tonight for a protest rally. Producers are angry at a price cut of over 6 cent per litre being imposed on them by the Co-Op.Kerry says it’s been forced to drop the price it pays to producers because of cheap imports of milk from Northern Ireland. However farmers feel they’re not the ones who should suffer. IFA Liquid Milk Chairman Donal Kelleher says with-holding milk, though extreme, is now a real possibility.
