Executive director of Kerry addiction treatment centre praises idea of minimum pricing unit for alcohol

Outgoing executive director of Talbot Grove Addiction Treatment Centre in Castleisland, Con Cremin who is leaving the organisation after 22 years.

The executive director of a Kerry addiction treatment centre has praised the move to introduce a minimum unit pricing for alcohol.

Con Cremin, of Talbot Grove in Castleisland, says this move will eliminate the most destructive and harmful kind of drinking by removing cheap alcohol.

He was speaking about the work done in Talbot Grove during his 22 years there, as he prepares to take on a new role in Cork next month.

Mr Cremin says people are now more willing to seek help and are reaching out to them sooner.

Speaking to Jerry O’Sullivan on Kerry Today, Mr Cremin outlined how minimum unit pricing will benefit the most vulnerable people.
