The owners of a Kerry nursing home say the High Court has extended the period of time during which the business is in examinership.
Last August, the court appointed an interim examiner to Melbourne Health Care Ltd., which trades under the name of Our Lady of Lourdes Care Facility in Kilcummin.
Examinership means that the company has the protection of the High Court for a period of time to assist in its survival.
The timeframe is initially for 70 days but if an application is made, the court may decide to extend the period of protection for 100 days.
Last August, the High Court heard that Melbourne Health Care Ltd, which trades under the name of Our Lady of Lourdes Care Facility in Kilcummin, owed more than 6 million euro to a hedge fund.
An independent expert’s report presented to the court stated that the company had a reasonable prospect of survival if certain steps were taken.
Melbourne Health Care Ltd has said there’s been no impact on patient care and that jobs are secure.
The company believes it has a financially viable future.
