Examination of sterling to take place in Rathmore investigation

Forensic and technical examinations are to take place on the 20,000 pounds sterling recovered as part of a Criminal Assets Bureau Investigation in Rathmore. The money was recovered after a local business man in his late 40’s was questioned by Gardai investigating money laundering by republicans. The man came to the attention of the Gardai after similar operations in Cork last week. He has now provided a statement to Gardai. Raids overnight in East Kerry, Millstreet, Offaly and Dublin have netted a further 400,000 euro for investigating Gardai. It means over three million euro in cash has now been recovered in this operation.
