It’s estimated that prosecutions follow one quarter of all burglaries in Kerry.

The information was revealed at a recent Joint Policing Committee meeting, where Councillor John Francis Flynn asked the gardaí for details on burglaries.

The Chief Superintendent of the Kerry Garda Division, Eileen Foster, says approximately 24% of burglaries result in someone being brought before the courts.

She did not have details on the number of people convicted for burglary offences in Kerry.

Chief Superintendent Foster did add the public has a role to play through making timely phone calls if concerned about suspicious vehicles or activities.
