Environmental screening continues on dangerous stretch of Kerry road

The environmental screening for upgrades to one of the most dangerous stretches of road in Kerry is progressing.

Kerry County Council is currently carrying out the screening on the R556 Ballinclogher to Rathscannell Road, also known as the Dale Road.

If it is concluded from that process that Part 8 planning is the appropriate planning process this will begin in the last quarter of the year.

The road connecting Abbeydorney and Ballyduff, which has been the scene of numerous serious accidents, is currently closed to traffic except for local access with a diversion via the Killahan road.

The update followed a question from Cllr Aoife Thornton at the Listowel Municipal District meeting.
