Election candidate calls for rethink of governance of rural Kerry towns

A local Labour Election Candidate has called for a rethink around the Governance of our rural towns.

Local election candidate for Kenmare Electoral Area, Luke Crowley-Holland, says he’s concerned about a democratic deficit in how Kerry’s towns are developing.

Mr Crowley-Holland while he’s delighted to see the Labour Party campaigning to see the return of town councils, this would only impact Killarney and Tralee.

He said he’s deeply concerned with propsals to put Chamber Alliances at the pinnacle of a town’s governance.

He says this will only serve to further empower commercial and professional interests
