Elaine Burrows Dillane becomes first Kerrywoman to swim English Channel

Tralee woman Elaine Burrows Dillane has created history by becoming the first Kerry woman to swim the English Channel.

Elaine, who set out from Kent in England yesterday, arrived in to France at 8pm last night

She was accompanied by  a boat called ‘The Optimist’ whose crew included her daughter Muireann and swimming coach Kevin Williams.

Elaine carried out her historic swim to raise money for the charity Brain Tumour Ireland, in honour of a family friend who made a full recovery, having been diagnosed with a brain tumour age four.
