Eighteen people have been arrested as part of an Operation Thor day of action in Tralee.
Gardaí in the Tralee District carried out a day of action on Tuesday.
They made a number of arrests relating to burglary, public order, criminal damage, possession of drugs and arson.
Of the eighteen people who were arrested, six people were charged and will appear in court.
A further six people were released without charge and files will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions; five people were arrested on foot of bench warrants.
Eighteen speed and drink/drug driving checkpoints were carried out in Ardfert, Abbeydorney, Blennerville, Monavalley, Caherslee, Bracker O’Regan, Killeen and Oakpark during the operation.
Three vehicles were seized and a number of fines were issued for road traffic offences; there were no detections for drink or drug driving.
A crime prevention stand was erected in Manor West Shopping Centre where information was distributed to members of the public relating to the ‘Lock up, Light Up’ campaign.
The Community Policing Unit also gave a presentation on personal safety, social media use and road safety to students.
