Efforts redoubled for affordable housing in Listowel

Efforts are to be re-doubled to push the affordable housing scheme in Listowel. Just 8 applications have been received by the Council. Young couples and single people are the main age bracket that have applied for the affordable housing scheme in Listowel.According to Staff Officer Dominic Scanlon uptake on the project has been slow.Michael McMahon town manager says priority is being given to people who qualify for local authority housing and the project is being pushed by the housing officer. The Manager says he believes once construction of the first 6 houses is complete that demand will increase for the houses. The council heard that there has been a keen uptake of the scheme in Ballybunion, where four houses are available on the Doon road.
