Funding of €238,000 is being allocated to community and voluntary organisations in the Tralee Municipal District.
The 73 projects are to benefit from grants under Kerry County Council’s Community Support Fund.
The fund is now in its third year, and aims to support a range of community, sporting and voluntary organisations.
Tralee Municipal District councillors have agreed to allocate funding of €136,000 to projects in the area, with a further €40,000 set aside for initiatives deemed to have the potential for co-funding with other sources such as the Leader Programme.
€62,000 is also being provided for projects and events which have been funded on an annual basis such as Christmas lighting in Tralee, and projects and events which were historically supported by Tralee Town Council, for example, the Tralee Sports Complex.
Tralee Chamber Alliance is to get the largest allocation at €55,000; Tralee 800 Working Group is to get €20,000, while the Tralee St Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is to benefit from €8,000.
Several residents’ associations and GAA clubs in the Tralee Municipal District are being allocated funding, as are Brosna Couch to 5K, Ardfert Development Association, and Ballymacelligott Community Alert Group.
