Novak Djokovic has got the defence of his Wimbledon title off to a winning start. He’s beaten world number 33 Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4. As the reigning champion, it was Djokovic’s responsibility to open up play on Centre Court on day one [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/42019/medium/”] Serena Williams is into the second round of Wimbledon despite a first set wobble. She remains on course to hold all four Grand Slam titles at the same time after beating Russian Margarita Gasparyan 6-4 6-1. Williams’ serve was broken in the first game, against a player who’s never won a WTA Tour match [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/42016/medium/”] Meanwhile, women’s seventh seed Ana Ivanovic safely advanced to the second round after losing just two games on her way to a straight sets victory, while Maria Sharapova lost just four games on her way past Britain’s Johanna Konta.
