Dingle place name to have no effect on legal status of summonses

A name change from Dingle to An Daingean will have no effect on the legal status of summonses issued in the West Kerry area, according to a spokesperson for the Court service. Judge James O Connor had adjourned cases at last weeks sitting of the Court pending clarification on the matter.A spokesperson for the Court service said that when the recent change took place under the place names order, District Court Offices were informed that they were to use the Irish place names on documents from that date forward. A spokesperson for Minister Eamon O Cuiv’s office also confirmed that the name change will not affect the legality of any summonses.
