Development proposals is sent to An Bord Pleanala due to local objections

One of the largest residential developments proposed for Dingle has been forwarded an to An Board Pleanala because of local objections. The development is for 64 houses, a tennis court and administration office. The proposed site for this development is given at Gortanora in Dingle which is sits on the outlying parts of the town. The development was approved by Kerry County Council subject to conditions, however a number of objections have been lodged by locals in the town. One of the objectors says they would be concerned about the impact such a development would have on the area in terms of character, environment, infrastructure and community. There is also concern that the development will cover the hill in concrete and that the site is too sensitive to construct the density of houses proposed. The developers are southbound properties whose previous application for houses in Ballyferriter led to the introduction of a clause requiring that 75% of the homes in the Gaeltacht having to be purchased by Irish speakers. A decision is due from An Bord Pleanala in the coming months.
