Designitated areas are granted as habitats for The Chough

Inland cliff areas of the county are to be designated as habitats for a special species called The Chough. Habit designation has been contentious for farmers in the county in the past, however The Department says these designated areas are unlikely to have implications for farmers. The Department of the Environment says they will approach the issue of assigning regions in Kerry through co operation with farmers. Farmers or landowners may appeal a designation with a Department Officer or at the Designated Areas Appeals Advisory Board.
