Deputy Ferris responds to DPP decision

Deputy Martin Ferris says he feels vindicated by a DPP decision not to press charges following his arrest in the run-up to the 2002 general election. Deputy Ferris, and seven other party members, were arrested by Gardai in March 2002 and quizzed about an incident in Castleisland in December 2001 during which a man was driven to a remote part of the county, beaten up and his car burnt out. The Director of Public Prosecutions has now confirmed that Deputy Ferris will not be charged in relation to the incident. Deputy Ferris says he’s just glad it’s all over.
